Robert Harris picks up GOLD for best integrated media campaign at the 2009 CAANZ Media Awards

Draft FCB, the advertising agency behind Robert Harris, recently picked up GOLD for best integrated media campaign at the 2009 CAANZ Media Awards. Early 2008 Robert Harris went on the road to find out what inspires New Zealanders. These ideas were then captured, and launched the campaign with one 3-minute ad break on TV1 late July 2008. Utilising a mix of TV, Print, Online and Outdoor, the campaign was brought to life through the humble napkin. From television to fiction written on napkins and an outdoor art gallery featuring well-known New Zealand artists such as Martin Poppelwell and Hayley King, Robert Harris came to life reinforcing that 'every break should be inspirational'.

The CAANZ Media Awards allow agencies to showcase the thinking behind the delivery of their advertising campaigns. The focus being on strategy and implementation rather than the creative.

Creative excellence wins over judges at the 2009 CAANZ Axis Awards

Thanks to some very talented New Zealand artists and creative genius' at Draft FCB (our fabulous advertising agency), Robert Harris scooped up multiple awards at the 2009 CAANZ Media Awards. These awards are like the Oscars of the advertising world, and we are ecstatic with the wins.

The CAANZ AXIS awards are about recognising creative excellence. New Zealand may be a small geographically isolated country, but our advertising creative is world class.

Original napkin art from the Robert Harris Inspiration Collection goes under the hammer

New Zealanders have a once in a life time opportunity to bid for original works of art created on the humble paper napkin by well renowned and up and coming Kiwi artists including Martin Poppelwell, Dean Tercel, Hayley King, Toni McKinnon and Mary-Louise Browne.

Twenty-eight pieces of original art will be auctioned on November 1, at Art + Object in Newton, Auckland with the proceeds going to the Robert Harris Inspiration Grant.

Ten Kiwi artists were commissioned by Robert Harris to transform the humble paper napkin into pieces of art as part of an inspirational project that took artwork to the streets of Auckland and Wellington to inspire passers-by on their coffee break and daily commute.

Each artist had a completely unique take on working with napkins; the results ranging from beautiful and delicate 3-D butterflies from Origami artist, Jonathan Baxter to the stunning translucent stenciling of Kiwi flora and fauna by Hayley King.

Robert Harris Group Brand Manager, Justine Powell says, “The proceeds from sales of the artwork will go to the Robert Harris Inspiration scholarship. This is a new initiative set up to support aspiring new artists and part of Robert Harris’ ongoing commitment to help provide inspiration to New Zealanders.”

Date: Saturday November 1st
Time: Viewing session from 11am – 3pm and the live auction at 4pm
Location: Art + Object, 3 Abbey St, Newton, Auckland

We wanted to find out what inspires New Zealanders, and then share that inspiration with the rest of the country.

A small team visited over 40 Robert Harris café down the country with a modified photo booth.
